BODEN BOAT PLANS COMMITMENT TO CUSTOMERS.
It is the intention of Boden Boat Plans to provide customers with stock plans for well designed conventional craft at the lowest possible price. Stock plans by their very nature are indicative of the completed craft, and customers need to have adaquate knowledge, skills and facilities to build these boats.
Boden Boat Plans do not claim that any one can build the craft. The purchaser of a plan set must satisfy themself that they have the engineering skill and experience, are able to read drawings, and have the necessary support facilities.
The recommended method of construction is the “one logical step after the other” method. Boden Boat Plans do not sell plans for so called quick easy construction methods, and kit boats. Boden Boat Plans supply plans on the understanding that all work is to be lined off during construction. Lining off is the process of validating the drawing against the build configuration on the actual job throughout construction.
Boden Boat Plans sell the plans on the understanding that there could be errors with dimensions or details. The lining off process will eliminate the building in of incorrect particulars. It is a condition of sale that purchasers of plans, through the lining off process, correct any errors that they, or others, may have previously made. Boden Boat Plans does not accept responsibility for the correctness of the plans. The process of lining off is standard industry and good trade practice.
It is the responsibility of the purchaser to satisfy themself that the plan of any craft purchased is suitable for the purpose that the craft will be used for. It is the responsibility of the purchaser as the builder to identify all statutory requirements applicable in the country of operation and to ensure that the completed craft complies.
Boden Boat Plans provides study information in the form of PDF packages. Boden Boat Plans will not refund the cost of plans that have been despatched because plans are easily copied using modern technology. Once the intelectural property is in the purchasers hands a refund will not be made.
Various builders are at different levels of expertise. Following a reasonable request Boden Boat Plans will provide additional information to assist the builder further understand the building process.
Plans are detailed engineering drawings, and incorporate good and proven boat building practice. The boat building and metal fabrication trades course cannot be put onto a drawing. Builders are required to refer to other technical documents, textbooks,and manuals. To assist the Boden web site has a number of quality links to areas of specialised knowledge. Boden Boat Plans does not specically endorse those persons statements or products. You should make your own mind up in regard to the quality of any information provided on these sites.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS THE BOAT BUILDER
The purchaser, as the boat builder, is responsible for building a safe boat conforming to the statutory requirements for pleasure craft in the country of build. Remember that defects that you may build into the boat could cause problems to future owners. It is your responsibility to build, outfit, and use the boat in accordance with statutory requirements and to ensure that all mechanical and electrical equipment is installed in accordance with the manufacturers and other requirements. By statutory requirements is meant the requirements, laws, and regulations covering the craft, including outfitting and use, in the proposed area of operation, and in the country of build or operation.
The purchaser, on purchase of the plan, agrees to the conditions of sale stated in the "Boden Boat Plans committment to customers",and "Your responsibility as the boatbuilder" conditions of sale on this web site.
Boden Boat Plans will not enter into discussions with other parties other than the original purchaser. The plans are sold on the understanding that they will be used by the purchasor only.
Applicable internationally recognised standards are:
- ABYC Guidelines (USA American Boat and Yachting Council)
- ISO Standards for Recreational Craft (International Standards Organisation)
- AS1799. Australian standard for small craft.(Standards Australia)
All power craft under 6 metres must be fitted with internal flotation material such that it complies with one of the above standards. It is the responsibility of the builder to ensure that the craft, as built, complies.
Safe load, person and engine power capacity must comply with one of the above standards or Statutory requirements in the country of operation.
