A great success. After three years of building, while running his steel fabrication business at the same time, Vince Nicolosi has launched his 7.7 metre aluminium power catamaran. Powered by two 125 hp outboards this catamaran has one very pleased owner.

A Boden design gentleman’s motor cruiser has been built and is being built and marketed by Craftsman Cruisers. The custom design is a round bilge version of the very successful Sun Mo design. Teak and other quality timbers have been used
 throughout.
Catamaran Passagemaker
A new steel passagemaker catamaran has just left the drawing board for a European customer. Intended use is Aegean Sea and Greek islands. We are delighted with the final design. The hull is 9 metres long, beam is.. and a speed of 10 knots is expected with twin 65hp Dutz diesel motors. The catamaran will sit comfortably on its own bottom and is ideal for shallow water use.

Latest photograph of Express Delivery build is shown below. Builders Harry and Michael Leontsinis are top tradesmen and are building a superb boat. This brings me to the point of owner built boats. We do not advertise that are plans are for amateur builders. They are not; they are for professional tradesmen such as Harry and Michael who own a wrought iron fabricate business. They are typical of most of our builders. They are also suitable for skilled hands on self-taught persons with a strong engineering bent.

There are always about 20 various Boden designs for sale in Australia at any one time. Check out www.boatpoint.com.au. Open “boats for sale” and type in boden. Also check out Bowden as brokers continue to spell our name wrong. We also receive many requests from potential purchasers wanting to know more about the designs. We try to help but the fact of the matter is that the broker or owner should obtain this information. We are happy to provide the information providing the person purchases our plan portfolio booklet at $20.00 including gst and postage. There is of course no guarantee that the craft was built to the plans or ever now looks like the original design. Another problem is that there is a tendency to say that a design is a Boden when in fact it is not. Having said this there are a lot of superb Bodens out there and they do not stay on brokers books for long.

15 years ago I designed a 56 foot timber yacht for Steve Allison. She was built by another master craftsman Ross Mitchell of Gosford NSW a. recently the Eunice May was sold to New Zealand owners who sailed her to NZ in time for the Americas Cup. They were exceptionally pleased with her delivery performance. Pity about the America’s Cup however. Photo is Eunice May in Sydney harbour.

Centre cockpit version so that owner can raise and lower anchor and pick up mooring with out going out on fore deck. An excellent of a boat built for the specific needs often experienced owner. The quality of Laurie’s work is obvious. Plans available.
