Cecil Boden was always looking for better ways to do things. When the University of Sydney installed a tank testing facility he was keen to use it. The first opportunity came with the decision to introduce an efficient planing and semi-planing hull capable of speeds of 20 knots. Because the design had to be suitable for use as a load carrying commercial and fishing boat he wanted to have the most efficient hull shape possible for the application. The result was the 34'6" series of designs, which include Dajarra, Mingella, Eden, Tilba, Heka and the timber Turrawan.
